Tech Support Engineer


Come join RISA and our great team of engineers and developers! We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our team! The Technical Support Engineer is responsible for the technical support of the full product suite for RISA. This position is a key member of the Technical Customer Success team providing best-in-class technical support to engineers for our full suite of RISA products. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural engineering and structural engineering software. The Technical Support Engineer reports to the Technical Support Manager, and will work in a collaborative fashion throughout our organization to deliver a great customer experience resolving customer issues.

Job Duties

As a member of our team, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide superior customer service in supporting all the RISA software
  • Work closely with customers via telephone, email, and conferencing gathering information to understand their software needs and offer solutions with RISA software
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through the entire life cycle of the software, including a technical explanation of the software as well as interface
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of the software while maintaining a positive company image during interactions with customers
  • Test software to ensure a quality software package that will meet customer satisfaction at the release of the software and intermediate checkpoints along the development cycle
  • Write technical engineering specifications to support the product development team
  • Provide hand calculations to validate the software
  • Write clear technical documentation for external customers

Skill Requirements

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be confident speaking to audiences in-person and over the internet
  • Team player, self-motivated, and positive "can do" attitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Be able to comfortably communicate with knowledgeable as well as novice users to resolve technical issues via both telephone and email
  • Can write clear and concise documentation of issues for users and to be used for in-house development
  • Multi-task between several customers supports and other tasks at the same time
  • Persistence and follow thru with the customer until issue is resolved
  • Thrives in a team working environment as well as confident working independently

Applications Engineer Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Willing to travel once or twice a year
  • 2+ years structural design engineering experience
  • PE license required
