Technical Sales Engineer [ON-SITE]


The Technical Sales Engineer position at RISA functions as a technical expert for RISA products and provides both technical sales and marketing support (content creation) to the company. As a new member of our team, this position will include the following responsibilities:

Job Duties

As a member of our team, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Live demonstrations of software to existing or potential clients
  • Develop and teach software training courses to clients
  • Create technical marketing content (articles, webinars, white papers, videos) that promote RISA products and answer common customer questions
  • Demonstrate knowledgeable customer service support while maintaining a positive company image during all interactions (phone, email, in-person) with customers
  • Provide sales support to prospective clients and customers including quote creation and licensing information
  • Answer sales and technical sales questions via phone, email, and in-person meetings with customers ensuring that individual software needs are understood and the correct RISA software product is discussed
  • Attend conferences, local meetings, and customer visits while providing superior product knowledge and support to customers
  • Work diligently to ensure customer satisfaction through the entire sales and support process
  • 10-15% travel to conferences, customer offices, and the RISA office

Additional Duties

  • Writing of training materials
  • Writing of technical marketing article and ads
  • Creating video content to help instruct users on the benefits of the software

Skill Requirements

We’re looking for a team member who we will enjoy working with and who offers the following:

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be confident speaking to audiences in-person and over the internet
  • Team player, self-motivated, and positive "can do" attitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Be able to comfortably communicate with knowledgeable as well as novice users to resolve technical issues via both telephone and email
  • Can write clear and concise documentation of issues for users and to be used for in-house development
  • Multi-task between several customers supports and other tasks at the same time
  • Persistence and follow thru with the customer until issue is resolved
  • Thrives in a team working environment as well as confident working independently

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 3+ years structural design engineering experience
  • PE license
