The bar along the top of the screen is called the title bar and contains: the Quick Access toolbar (to the right next to the FD logo), the name of the file that is currently open (in the middle) and application controls (to the far right).

The three buttons on the upper far right side of the title bar are used to control the main window. The left button will shrink the main application window to a button on the taskbar.
The middle button will shrink or maximize the window on your screen. The right button will close the window, prompting you to save changes, if necessary. You will also see these buttons in other windows and they have basically the same functions there as well. Below these three buttons is the Director button, Help File button and Minimize Ribbon Toolbar button.
The Director button will allow you to transfer back to your RISA-3D model. The question mark will pull up the RISAFoundation help file. The caret allows you to minimize the contents within the Ribbon toolbar.
To the left of the title bar next to the FD logo is the Quick Access toolbar.
The Quick Access toolbar provides a quick way to access commonly used features and functions within the software. See the Quick Access toolbar section for more information.
Most of the functions and features that you will be using will be within the Ribbon toolbar. Clicking the headings or tabs that are presented in the lower half of the title bar will give you access to different portions of the Ribbon toolbar.
