Subscription License Borrowing

License Borrowing

RISA has a "Borrow License" feature which allows users to borrow a seat of a subscription license if they plan to use the program offline. To initiate the license borrow, you must have an internet connection. Once the license has been borrowed, you no longer need to be connected to the internet and may take your license offline.

How to Borrow

The process of borrowing a licenses looks different in RISA-3D, RISAFoundation, and RISAConnection compared to in other programs due to the difference in user interface. To borrow a license in RISA-3D, RISAFoundation, or RISAConnection, start by opening the File menu, then hover over the Help sub-menu to expand it, and lastly select the Licensing option.

This will expand the Licensing dialog window which will allow you to borrow a seat of RISA-3D, RISAFoundation, or RISAConnection for any set number of days up to the end of your subscription date.

Returning a Borrowed License

To return a borrowed license, simply set the slider to the off position. We recommend borrowing for ONLY the amount of time that you plan on being offline. This is because if the computer that is borrowing the license gets damaged or is otherwise unusable, the license will stay borrowed and inaccessible until the specified date.

Borrowing in Other Programs

As mentioned above, borrowing looks different in RISA-3D, RISAFoundation, and RISAConnection compared to in other programs. To borrow a license in all other RISA programs, start by navigating to the Help menu located above the tool bar at the top of the screen. In this menu, select the Licensing option to open the License dialog window.

This dialog window is identical to the one shown in RISA-3D, RISAFoundation, and RISAConnection and allows users to borrow a seat for any set number of days up to the end of the subscription date.
