RISA Employee Spotlight: Gabrielle Custodio
Gabrielle Custodio is a Product Design Engineer at RISA and has been with the company since December 2017. After receiving a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and a MS in Civil Engineering from UCLA, she worked in the telecommunication industry for Tectonic Engineering. There she conducted site visits around Southern California, with a focus on antenna supporting structure modifications to support small cell and 4G/LTE technologies.
In joining RISA, Gabby first focused on providing excellent technical support to RISA customers while also contributing to the development of various RISA products through research, specification writing and testing. Now in her role as a Product Design Engineer, she concentrates on product management, specifically managing RISA's first web-based product, RISACalc. In this new role, the most fulfilling part of her work has been seeing collaborative ideas and plans come to life, while also being able to put an artistic spin on her engineering background.
For Gabby, the secret to staying productive at work is a good Spotify playlist and a warm cup of tea or sweet flavored latte (emphasis on "sweet"). When not at work, she is an avid reader who enjoys elevating herself whether mentally through journaling, physically through working out and playing recreational sports, or creatively by making any type of content.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing what you’re doing now?
One of my passions is coming up with video ideas and making it happen. I almost majored in film when I was picking colleges. In another life, I would be involved in film pre- or post-production.

What’s a fun fact about you that people may not know?
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher and have my 200-hour certification from CorePower Yoga. I don’t teach anymore but I used to be *that* instructor at 5:45am promising that we’re only going to do “one more” set.
What was your favorite summertime activity as a kid?
My parents kept me busy with tons of activities as a kid: ice skating, karate, dance, gymnastics, piano and guitar lessons, swimming…but my favorite was plopping on the grass with a stack of library books and a popsicle.
